Sacred Earth Retreat
126–128 Lone Kauri Road

The Sacred Earth retreats are located on the west coast of Auckland, in the Waitakere Ranges.

To get there, take the Piha Road out west, and after about ten minutes (9 km) turn left onto Lone Kauri Road. After another ten minutes (5.7 km), Lone Kauri Road branches onto an unsealed road after a cluster of letterboxes.

(If you're from England, you might call this a "metalled road"; in Canada or the USA, it's an "unpaved road"; here in New Zealand it's known as an "unsealed road").

Note: DO NOT turn down La Trobe Track (the first cluster of letterboxes).

It is the SECOND cluster of letterboxes that you need to look out for to find the unsealed road.

As the images show, there is a FORK IN THE ROAD (which cuts like a knife). Take the unsealed road on the right up the hill (to Sacred Earth Retreat). (The sealed road on the left continues down the hill to Karekare beach, which is nice, but you probably want to check in and drop off your bags first).

The unsealed road on the right takes you up the hill, past some farms, and if you follow it all the way to the end, you will arrive at Sacred Earth Retreat (numbers 126 and 128).
